what's your radon risk?
Professional radon testing for your home is the first step in knowing your risk of radon exposure. Make your home a safe place to breathe.
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that is odorless, colorless, and tasteless. It can enter your home through cracks in the foundation, water systems, and other sources.
Radon is a Class A Human Carcinogen. Breathing air with high concentrations of it, especially in your home, is dangerous. In fact, radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers.
More than 21,000 people die each year from radon-induced lung cancer. Up to 15% of all lung cancer cases are attributed to radon exposure.
Any home or building is at risk. The only way to know for sure the radon levels in your home is to test. The EPA recommends mitigation (reducing the amount of radon) if your home tests at a level of 4.0 pCi/L or higher.

Yes. Radon has been detected in homes in every state, regardless of age, construction type, or location. Because radon is invisible and odorless, professional testing is the only reliable way to know your home’s level. The EPA recommends every home below the third floor be tested for radon at least once.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency action level for radon is 4.0 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The EPA recommends installing a mitigation system at this level or higher. Some homeowners choose to address levels between 2.0 and 4.0 pCi/L for additional protection, since no level of radon exposure is considered completely risk-free.
Professional radon testing uses a continuous radon monitor (CRM) placed in the lowest livable level of your home. NRPP-certified technicians position the device according to EPA placement standards, run the test for 48 hours under closed-house conditions, then retrieve the monitor and process the digital data to produce a detailed report of your home’s radon level.
A professional radon test takes 48 hours. This is the EPA-recommended minimum testing period to capture accurate readings under normal living conditions. Our certified technicians place a continuous radon monitor in your home, which collects hourly measurements throughout the testing window. Results are processed digitally, eliminating the wait for third-party lab analysis.
The EPA recommends testing during winter months when homes are sealed and indoor air circulation is reduced, since these conditions produce the most conservative (highest) radon readings. However, radon testing can be conducted year-round. Professional testing methods account for seasonal variations, ensuring accurate measurements regardless of when the test is performed.
The EPA recommends testing your home for radon every two years, after major renovations (especially basement finishing), after HVAC system changes, and after installing a radon mitigation system. Radon levels can shift over time due to foundation settling, weather patterns, and structural changes, so periodic testing helps maintain a safe indoor environment.
If your radon test results show levels at or above 4.0 pCi/L, the EPA recommends installing a radon mitigation system. Professionally designed mitigation systems typically reduce indoor radon levels by up to 99% and can be installed in a single day. Our certified team walks you through your results and provides a custom mitigation plan if needed.
